A day in the life-Border

This photo was taken in the morning before class in the commons with a large amount of sunlight behind the subject. on my camera, i changed the white balance to try to redude some of the sunlight. as it turns out i did not adjust it to the correct setting, as in, i did not accomplish my goal in reducing the amount of sunlight. with this trouble photoshop helped alot. i used the brightness adustments and made an S curve. also i used a warming filter to strenthen the reds and oranges. lastly i made a border and fethered it to give it a smoother effect.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I create art because I enjoy expression though certain types of mediums, mainly because I enjoy making things myself and take pride in something I have done rather than enjoying other peoples work. To me art is not really an expression, but I do it because I enjoy the medium I am using, on some occasions I will use it for expression, not often though, as in, it’s not my main goal. I am inspired by some of my favorite photographers, such as Charles Peterson and Ansel Adams. (Charles Peterson photos shown below). I am also inspired by cityscapes and walking thought big cities such as Chicago and downtown Minneapolis. My work doesn’t necessarily show expression of my favorite artists, I would like to say it would, and I try to use similar properties, but really my work isn’t expressed the same as theirs. I had multiple art classes where I make all types of art from drawing to pottery, but my favorite is most defiantly photography. I would like to now learn digital photography, somthing I have wanted to learn for a while and I want to get good at using Photoshop.
